Enclosures

Sheet metal enclosures house electrical, electronic and mechanical equipment, protecting it from dust, water and damage. We supply custom enclosures, panels and housings with doors, cut-outs, gland plates, inserts and powder-coated finishes.

What it is

Enclosures are laser cut, bent and welded or fastened, with cut-outs for displays, switches and ventilation. Gaskets, hinges and locks complete doors, while inserts and studs allow component mounting.

Ingress protection (IP) ratings depend on design, gaskets and construction quality; the target rating should be stated at the outset.

Typical applications

  • Electrical control panels
  • Electronics and instrument housings
  • Outdoor junction boxes
  • Machine control cabinets
  • Kiosk and equipment housings

Suitable materials

  • CRCA and HR mild steel
  • Galvanised steel (GI/GP)
  • Stainless steel (304, 316)
  • Aluminium (5052, 6061)

Points to consider

  • State the IP rating and environment; it drives gasket and seam design.
  • Mark cut-out positions accurately; late changes are costly after coating.
  • Stainless steel suits wash-down and outdoor corrosive areas.
  • Consider heat dissipation and ventilation for electronics.
