Flanges
Machined flanges connect pipes, shafts, housings and equipment with a bolted face. We supply standard flanges to ASME, EN, DIN and IS dimensions as well as custom flanges machined from plate, forgings or castings, with drilled bolt circles, spigots and sealing faces.
What it is
Flanges are turned and faced for flat, parallel sealing surfaces, then drilled on a pitch circle diameter (PCD). Pipe flanges come in types such as weld neck, slip-on, blind, socket weld and threaded; shaft and motor flanges use spigots for alignment.
Sealing faces can be raised face, flat face or ring-type joint, with a specified serrated or smooth finish to suit the gasket.
Typical applications
- Pipeline and process flanges
- Pump, valve and vessel connections
- Motor and gearbox mounting flanges
- Shaft couplings and hubs
- Custom adaptor flanges between standards
Suitable materials
- Carbon steel (ASTM A105, IS 2062 plate)
- Stainless steel (304, 316, F304, F316)
- Alloy steel
- Aluminium and brass for light duty
Points to consider
- State the standard and pressure class (for example ASME Class 150, PN16) for pipe flanges.
- Specify gasket face type and finish, as this affects sealing.
- For large flanges, forged rings or plate with less machining allowance save cost.
- Adaptor flanges between different standards need both bolt patterns on the drawing.
Frequently asked questions
What flange types can you supply?
Weld neck, slip-on, blind, socket weld, threaded and custom machined flanges, to ASME, EN, DIN, IS or your drawing.
Can you make an adaptor flange between two standards?
Yes. Adaptor flanges with different bolt patterns on each side are machined to drawing.
Do you provide material test certificates?
Material test certificates (MTC) can be supplied with the flanges when requested at the quote stage.
