Made-to-Drawing Components
Made-to-drawing components are manufactured strictly to your engineering drawing, including dimensions, tolerances, material, finish and notes. We review the drawing, raise any questions before production, and inspect finished parts against every drawing requirement.
What it is
The drawing is the contract: every dimension, tolerance, material specification, heat treatment, finish and note is followed. Our review at quote stage checks manufacturability and flags anything unclear or unusually costly.
Depending on the part, the best route may be machining, fabrication, casting or a combination. We choose the process that meets the drawing at the right cost.
Typical applications
- OEM components to customer drawings
- Replacement parts from existing drawings
- Parts for new product development
- Assemblies built from drawing packs
Suitable materials
- As specified on the drawing
- Equivalent grades suggested only with your approval
Points to consider
- Include material grade, general tolerance standard (for example ISO 2768-m) and finish on the drawing.
- Make sure the drawing revision is current; parts are made to the revision supplied.
- Where a specified material is hard to source, we suggest equivalents but only use them with approval.
- Title-block notes (heat treatment, coatings, marking) are part of the requirement.
Frequently asked questions
What if my drawing has an error?
We review drawings at quote stage and raise any unclear or conflicting points before production, so they are resolved with you rather than guessed.
Do you need a 3D model?
Not always. A fully dimensioned 2D drawing is enough for most parts; a 3D model helps with complex shapes.
Can you suggest a cheaper way to make my part?
Yes. If a different process or small design change would reduce cost without affecting function, we will propose it for your approval.
