Custom Fasteners
Custom fasteners are designed for a specific product or assembly, such as captive screws, shoulder bolts, special studs or fasteners with integrated features, and are manufactured to your drawing. They can reduce part count and assembly time.
What it is
A custom fastener might combine a bolt with a locating spigot, a nut with an integrated washer, or a screw with a special drive to prevent tampering. Designing the fastener around the assembly often removes separate parts.
We review the design for manufacturability and recommend the most economical process and material.
Typical applications
- OEM product assemblies
- Tamper-resistant fixings
- Captive and panel fasteners
- Locating and pivot bolts
- Automotive and appliance parts
Materials & grades
- Carbon steel (4.6, 8.8, 10.9, 12.9)
- Stainless steel A2 (304) / A4 (316)
- Alloy steel (B7, high-tensile)
- Brass and non-ferrous
Points to consider
- Combine functions to reduce part count.
- Use standard thread sizes where possible.
- Choose coating for corrosion and friction needs.
- Plan volumes: tooling pays off in cold heading.
Frequently asked questions
Why use custom fasteners?
They can reduce part count, simplify assembly and solve fitment or security problems standard parts can't.
Can you help design a custom fastener?
Yes. We review the requirement and suggest designs, materials and processes.
What quantities are practical?
From small machined batches to high-volume cold-headed production.
