Standard Fasteners

Standard fasteners are catalogue bolts, screws, nuts, washers and studs made to ISO, DIN, IS or ANSI dimensions and property classes. We supply them in the grades, finishes and quantities you need, alongside custom parts, so hardware comes with the rest of your order.

What it is

Standard fasteners are defined by a designation such as ISO 4017 M10×40 8.8 zinc plated: the standard (hex head screw, fully threaded), size, length, property class and finish. Property classes (4.6, 8.8, 10.9, 12.9 for steel; A2-70, A4-80 for stainless) define strength.

Sourcing standard hardware with machined and fabricated parts simplifies purchasing and assembly.

Typical applications

  • Machine and equipment assembly
  • Structural connections
  • Panel and enclosure fixing
  • Maintenance and spares stock
  • OEM production kits

Materials & grades

  • Carbon steel (4.6, 8.8, 10.9, 12.9)
  • Stainless steel A2 (304) / A4 (316)
  • Alloy steel (B7, high-tensile)
  • Brass and non-ferrous

Points to consider

  • Always specify standard, size, length, class and finish.
  • Use high-strength (10.9, 12.9) only where needed; they need baking if electroplated.
  • Match nut and washer grades to the bolt.
  • Stainless fasteners can gall; use anti-seize on threads.

Frequently asked questions

What does 8.8 on a bolt mean?

It's the property class: 800 MPa minimum tensile strength and a yield of 80% of that (640 MPa).

What is the difference between A2 and A4 stainless fasteners?

A2 is 304-type stainless for general use; A4 is 316-type with better corrosion resistance, especially in marine environments.

Can you supply fasteners with other parts?

Yes. Standard hardware can be supplied along with machined and fabricated parts in one order.
