Springs

Springs store and release energy, including compression, extension, torsion, disc (Belleville) and wire form springs, manufactured to your load, dimensions and material specification. We supply standard and custom springs from spring steel, stainless steel and special alloys.

What it is

Springs are coiled from wire on CNC coilers, then stress relieved, ground (for compression spring ends), shot peened where fatigue matters, and finished. The spring rate depends on wire diameter, coil diameter, active coils and material.

Custom springs are designed to meet force at a given length within tolerance.

Typical applications

  • Valves and actuators
  • Machinery and automation mechanisms
  • Automotive and two-wheeler parts
  • Electrical switchgear
  • Consumer products

Materials & grades

  • Music wire / spring steel (IS 4454)
  • Oil-tempered wire
  • Stainless steel 302/304/316, 17-7 PH
  • Phosphor bronze and beryllium copper
  • Chrome silicon / chrome vanadium

Points to consider

  • Specify load at a working length, free length and dimensions.
  • Stainless for corrosion; chrome silicon for high stress and temperature.
  • Shot peening improves fatigue life.
  • Ground ends give square seating for compression springs.

Frequently asked questions

What information is needed to make a spring?

Wire diameter, outer or inner diameter, free length, number of coils, end type, material and ideally the load at a working length.

Can you copy a spring from a sample?

Yes, by measuring dimensions and testing its load, then matching material.

Which spring material is best?

Spring steel for general use, stainless for corrosion, chrome silicon for high stress and heat, phosphor bronze for electrical parts.
