Seals
Seals prevent fluid leakage and contamination at moving and static joints, including oil seals, hydraulic rod and piston seals, wipers, V-rings and mechanical seals. We supply standard and machined seals in rubber, PU and PTFE for your application.
What it is
Rotary oil seals retain lubricant on shafts; hydraulic seals seal reciprocating rods and pistons; wipers keep dirt out; mechanical seals seal pump shafts with lapped faces. Material and profile depend on speed, pressure, temperature and media.
Non-standard sizes can be machined from rubber, PU or PTFE tubes without mould costs.
Typical applications
- Gearbox and motor shaft seals
- Hydraulic cylinder seal kits
- Pump seals
- Pneumatic cylinders
- Wheel hubs and bearings
Materials & grades
- NBR (nitrile)
- FKM (Viton)
- Polyurethane
- PTFE and filled PTFE
- Silicone and EPDM
Points to consider
- Provide shaft/housing sizes and operating conditions.
- Shaft surface finish and hardness strongly affect seal life.
- FKM for high temperature and fuels; EPDM for water and steam (not oils).
- Machined seals are fast for non-standard sizes.
Frequently asked questions
Which seal material is best?
NBR for general oil service, FKM (Viton) for high temperature and fuels, PU for hydraulic wear, PTFE for chemicals and low friction.
Can you supply hydraulic seal kits?
Yes. Seal kits for cylinders can be supplied in standard or machined sizes.
Why do oil seals leak?
Common causes are worn or grooved shafts, wrong material, misalignment or excessive pressure.
