Gaskets

Gaskets seal the gap between flanges and mating surfaces to stop leaks, made from rubber, compressed non-asbestos fibre, PTFE, graphite, cork and metal (spiral wound, ring joint). We supply standard flange gaskets and custom-cut gaskets to drawing.

What it is

Soft gaskets are cut from sheet by die, waterjet or knife cutting; spiral-wound and ring-type joint gaskets handle high pressure and temperature. Material is chosen for media, temperature, pressure and flange type.

Standard flange gaskets follow ASME B16.20/B16.21 and EN 1514 dimensions.

Typical applications

  • Pipe flanges
  • Pump and valve covers
  • Gearbox and engine covers
  • Heat exchangers
  • Enclosure doors

Materials & grades

  • Rubber (NBR, EPDM, neoprene, silicone, Viton)
  • Compressed non-asbestos fibre (CNAF)
  • PTFE and expanded PTFE
  • Flexible graphite
  • Spiral wound (SS + graphite/PTFE)

Points to consider

  • Specify media, temperature and pressure for material selection.
  • Full-face vs inside-bolt-circle affects size.
  • Spiral-wound gaskets need correct inner/outer rings.
  • Graphite gaskets handle high temperature but need care handling.

Frequently asked questions

Which gasket material should I use?

It depends on the fluid, temperature and pressure: rubber for water and low pressure, CNAF for general use, PTFE for chemicals, graphite and spiral wound for high temperature and pressure.

Can you cut custom gaskets?

Yes. Custom shapes are cut from gasket sheet by die, waterjet or CNC knife to your drawing or sample.

What is a spiral wound gasket?

A metal strip wound with graphite or PTFE filler, used for high-pressure and high-temperature flanges.
